Will the Huffington Post liberal voice influence AOL media?

Arianna Huffington, the founder of the Huffington Post, has agreed to sell her internet empire to AOL for $315 million dollars. The deal will give AOL a combined world-wide reach of 117 million monthly internet visitors.

There are few websites better known for their liberal media voice than the Huffington Post, so questions arise as to whether AOL will try to influence to political leaning of the influential website.

“As part of the transaction, Arianna Huffington, The Huffington Post's co-founder and editor-in-chief, will be named president and editor-in-chief of The Huffington Post Media Group, which will include all Huffington Post and AOL content..” according to the Huffington Post.

Ms. Huffington told MSNBC that she will continue to maintain her current editorial judgment as AOL’s new Editor-in-Chief.

So while the conservative movement holds its influence over outlets like Fox News and the Drudge Report, the Huffington Post/AOL deal holds the potential to raise the volume of liberal voices. Whether or not it will drown them out is yet to be seen.
